About us
On May 17, 2003, Region IV was split into two regions – CALABARZON and MIMAROPA – with the issuance of Executive Order No. 103 and eventually RA 10879. This was done as a means “to improve the delivery of government services to the regions, and accelerate its social and economic development.” In October 2007, DOST-MIMAROPA was created to aid in this effort.
DOST-MIMAROPA has steadily grown through the years, and has been able to provide and implement various scientific, technological, and innovative programs and services. For this reason, it has rightly been recognized as one of the best performing regional offices in the country. DOST has played a significant role in fostering a sustainable socioeconomic growth by shoring up industry productivity and competitiveness, enhancing economic opportunities, and ensuring inclusive development in communities. These have been made possible through DOST’s flagship programs such as the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) and the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST).
